Discussie: Fantastic Mr. Fox [Blu-ray Disc]

Geweldige film. Wes Anderson=(film)god.

Als iemand die is opgegroeid met het Nederlandse boek vind ik het jammer dat er geen verwijzing is na de Nederlandse titel en doet daarmee deze mensen een beetje te kort. Zou fijn zijn als alsnog ''De Fantastische meneer Vos'' in ieerdergeval in de titel word geplaatst.

Een kleine toevoeging aan de opmerkingen in de review:

In de review word onterecht melding gemaakt dat The Cast onderdeel is van de making off en dat is niet zo. De indruk word op deze manier gewekt dat we 2 van 6 onderdelen krijgen, terwijl het er dus maar 1 is. Resume: Het 1ste onderdeel is het enige wat tot die making off behoord en helaas het enige wat we krijgen van die making off. De andere 5 krijgen we dus niet. Wat wel terecht word gemeld is dat het een selectie betreft, want we missen heel veel.

The extras begin with the six part making-of documentary ‘Making Mr. Fox Fantastic’ (45:00, HD). Things start with ‘The Look of Fantastic Mr. Fox’, a discussion concerning the original book illustrations, Dahl’s real life inspiration, the general production and set design, the colour schemes, and lighting. ‘From Script to Screen’ discusses the adaptation of Dahl’s short story, Anderson’s direction style, storyboarding, and Anderson’s live action source (apparently he acted out almost the entire film, much like Seth Green does for Robot Chicken). ‘The Puppet Makers’ definitely speaks for itself, and covers character design to sculpting and character decoration. ‘Still Life’ looks at the film’s old fashion animation style, which turned off many viewers. This section introduces the animators and animation director, and features some fun time lapse photography. ‘The Cast’ also speaks for itself, and features a lot of footage of the actors being recorded in the thick of acting. ‘Bill and His Badger’ wraps things up with Bill Murray discussing his work on the film, and exploring the sets. Missing from the doc, unsurprisingly, is word of all the apparent behind the scenes strife, which saw the animators complaining of a lack of on set attention from Anderson in a public forum.

The rest of the disc’s extras include ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Whack-Bat’ (1:00, HD), ‘The World of Roald Dahl’ (3:00, HD), a look at Dahl’s house (where the script was written) and history, and a trailer.

Mits dit natuurlijk dit niet weer een huur versie is. Zo niet, hopelijk komt er nog een SE. Want alleen liefhebbers kopen dit, maar die willen alle extra's hebben.

De film is in de Nederlandse bioscopen ook niet uitgebracht als "De Fantastische Meneer Vos", dus is de film onder die titel niet bekend.
Om dan wel een verwijzing naar het boek te maken gaat iets te ver.

Making Mr. Fox Fantastic (HD, 45 min.) – This feature contains six separate featurettes, that can be played subsequently by selecting Play All, or separately by selecting the specific featurette from the menu.
"The Look of 'Fantastic Mr. Fox,'" talks about the origin of Roald Dahl's story, and how Anderson got involved in the film and information on the 120 different sets that were built for the film.

"From Script to Screen," talks about the children's story, and what a challenge it was to take a short book and turn it into a feature length film.

"The Puppet Makers," see how the puppets were made and the meticulous work that goes into making puppets for stop motion animation.

"Still Life (Puppet Animation)," covers the painstaking work that it takes to animate a stop motion feature length feature. Wes Anderson talks about how he liked how the fur moved on the stop motion animation from 'King Kong,' and how that influenced the movie.

"The Cast," gives us a look at the famous names involved with the voices of the characters like Meryl Streep and George Clooney.

"Bill and His Badger," is definitely the most enjoyable segment of the bunch just because we get a good seven minutes one-on-one with Bill Murray talking about his role as Badger and visiting some of the stop motion animators.

Dus de NL versie bevat twee onderdelen van de Making of + de "Whack-Bat Guide".
Het zou kunnen dat bij de NL versie "The World of Roald Dahl" een onderdeel is van "Het ontwerp van Fantastic Mr. Fox", omdat daar ook de weduwe van Roald Dahl aan het woord komt en er opnames van het huis van Dahl te zien zijn. Maar bevestigen kan ik dat niet.

EDIT: het lijkt er niet op, want de tijdsduur van beide versie is gelijk: ruim 8 minuten.

Let wel: ik heb de buitenlandse versie nooit in m'n handen gehad, dus ik ga af op de informatie die ik op internet vind.

De UK versie heeft geen NL subs.

Heeft de uk release wel alle extra's die de us release heeft?

Ik hem voor 21,90€ gekocht in Mediamarkt Brussel op dag van de release.

Zeker geen 30€.

Ik heb de uk editie gekocht, al weer tijden geleden. Heerlijke film.
