The Smiths - Inside The Smiths

RELEASE DATE - 06-08-2007

“The DVD is a very real account of what happened when we were in The Smiths,” says Joyce. “We wanted people to know what it was really like. It is more truthful than anything we have revealed in interviews before because we were relaxed with how it was done and who was doing it.” “It isn't about attacking Johnny or Morrissey,” says Rourke. “Despite the fact that the band ended in a messy way we shared a lot of things and we adopted an almost gang-like mentality. We still have many loyalities to each other as a result of that.”

An in-depth exploration of what it was like to be a Smith.
Starring MIKE JOYCE and ANDY ROURKE. ANDY ROURKE and MIKE JOYCE were the legendary rhythm section behind THE SMITHS. For the first time on film they tell the story of what it was like being in one of the World’s most celebrated and groundbreaking bands. What is was like working with MORRISEY and JOHNNY MARR. Their unique song writing process and the relationship they formed in the five years they were together. Andy Rourke talks openly and honestly about his perilous drug addiction which threatened not only his position in one of the World’s greatest bands, but also his life. With contributions from Peter Hook (New Order), Buzzcocks, Mark E Smith (The Fall), Kaiser Chiefs, Preston (Ordinary Boys), Mat Osman (Suede) and many more.

Filmed over two years in the UK, Europe and the USA. This film looks INSIDE THE SMITHS from the perspective of two people who were there!
