There's some very exciting home video news for horror fans this morning as Anchor Bay and Scream Factory have revealed plans for "Halloween: The Complete Collection" to hit Blu-ray September 23. That's every single film in the slasher franchise (including the Rob Zombie remake and its sequel), spread across 15 discs! Full press release details follow:

Last year, the horror classic "Halloween" celebrated 35 years of terror for those willing to partake in its vision of unrelenting horror. But that was only the beginning of the celebration. What producers Moustapha Akkad, Debra Hill and Irwin Yablans, writer/director John Carpenter and stars Jamie Lee Curtis & Donald Pleasence started in 1978 has transformed into one of the most durable, iconic – and copiously studied -- horror film franchises ever created. Before Jason, before Freddy, and before Jigsaw, there was…Michael. Over the years, audiences have lived and relived the terrors of Michael Myers through ten feature films, as well as various re-edits and alternate versions. Yet to date, the complete saga of Michael Myers could only be told in pieces, in individual DVD and Blu-ray releases, with the rights spread across multiple home entertainment studios.

Until now…

Through the unprecedented collaboration of rival home entertainment companies Anchor Bay Entertainment and Scream Factory – the leading purveyors in horror home entertainment –"Halloween: The Complete Collection" Blu-ray box sets arrive September 23rd.

For the legions of Halloween fans, the Deluxe Edition boasts 15 discs and contains all the "Halloween" feature films – "Halloween," "Halloween II," "Halloween III: Season of the Witch," "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers," "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers," "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers," "Halloween H20," "Halloween: Resurrection," "Rob Zombie’s Halloween" and "Halloween II". The set includes the never before released producers cut of "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers" as well as the ultra-rare network TV version of the original "Halloween," the network TV version of "Halloween II," plus the unrated versions of "Rob Zombie’s Halloween" and "Halloween II". It is packed with hours of brand new bonus features, including new interviews with cast and crew from the entire franchise!

In response to years of fan feedback, the first "Halloween" will now also include the original mono audio track and the set will include both versions of the original "Halloween," the original Blu-ray release and the recently remastered 35th Anniversary version with the mono track added back in! It also comes with a limited edition 40-page book written by Michael Gingold of Fangoria Magazine. The collectible packaging will include a newly commissioned illustration on the outer case and each film will be in its own black Blu-ray case with the original theatrical one sheet as the key art. This deluxe set carries an SRP of $169.99.

“This compilation is the ultimate collector's item for fans of the 'Halloween' films and a testament to all the wonderful talent that have worked on them,” remarked Malek Akkad, President of Trancas International Films and son of series producer Moustapha Akkad. “The partnership between Anchor Bay Entertainment and Scream Factory to present fans for the first time with all the Halloween films in one definitive package is a tribute to everyone – including my father – who made these films the terrifying classics they are today.”

The 10-disc Edition includes the original theatrical versions of the "Halloween" films and will include select bonus features. SRP is $129.99.

Heb sinds kort ook een regiovrije BD speler en kan het iedereen aan raden!

Wat de set betreft, klinkt erg goed!!!

Ik twijfel wel of ik hem aanschaf.

Aan de ene kant wil ik hem wel hebben (de meest uitgebreide uitgave), maar aan de andere kant heb ik alle delen al los op blu ray.

Maar omdat er toch enkele Uncut versies bij zitten, die eerst nooit verkrijgbaar waren, twijfel ik wel erg.

Ik heb van Friday the 13th & de Nightmare on Elmstreet films ook die complete boxen, dus zou deze er mooi bij staan.

Alleen om dan een hele uitgave te doen voor dit (Met eventuele extra douane kosten), terwijl je ze ook nog los hebt, vind ik echt moeilijk.

Ik heb niet grootste loon, dus moet echt afwegen, want hoef niet alles tig keer dubbel te hebben.

Dus aan ene kant wil ik hem, maar aan andere kant nog niet zeker.

Alleen mij kennende komt ie er wel, alleen wat dan eventueel te doen met die losse delen?.

Daar moet ik dus nog over nadenken.

Ik heb recent de 35th anniversary edition van Halloween aangeschaft, mooie transfer (en de Jamie Lee Curtis docu was leuk). Van Halloween II en III heb ik de scream factory releases, evenzeer leuke edities. Daar houdt het voor mij op wat Halloween betreft. De eerste drie filmen hebben de John Carpenter feel en wat daarna kwam, heb ik altijd een flauw afkooksel gevonden. Zelfs toen Jamie Lee Curtis terug kwam, was het in een flauw 'Scream' afkooksel. De Rob Zombie films brachten het op zijn minst terug tot het horror genre, maar deel twee was erg ludiek bij momenten. Misschien dat ik de Zombies nog wel aanschaf, zeer goedkoop te vinden, maar een volledige boxset van Halloween... Ik zou toch degenen aanraden die de sequels nog niet hebben gezien om dit eerst te doen!

Ik vind persoonlijk alle sequels leuker dan de Zombie-reboots, dat vind ik echt troep. Ieder zijn smaak.

Zo'n soort boekachtige verpakking, mooier dan dit eerlijk gezegd.

Ik betwijfel of turner classic dat order gaat doorvoeren, ik weet ooit hadden ze eens een uitbundige set voor minder als de helft verkeerd geprijsd, iedereen sprong erop en kreeg uiteindelijk een email dat het order gecancelled was.

Misschien beter voor sommige aangezien er nu audio sync issues (deel 4) bevestigd zijn.

Ik kwam deze weer tegen, kan iemand bevestigen dat ie echt alleen regio A is? Bluray.com zegt B,C untested. Hij is nu een stuk goedkoper geworden, $63.

Toch maar voor de regio B versies van de losse films gegaan. Wel een gezoek om redelijk tot goede versies bijeen te sprokkelen in deze regio, maar uiteindlijk alles gevonden voor niet al te veel geld (minder dan de US-box, zeker als je verzendkosten en douanekosten meerekent):
- deel 1 had ik al, die is ook het gemakkelijkst te vinden (UK versie)
- deel II de Australische versie, de Duitse is gecensureerd, er bestaat geen UK versie (althans niets dat betaalbaar is)
- deel III en Resurrection de Duitse versie
- deel IV en V de UK-versies
- deel 6 en H2O de Franse versies
De twee films van Rob Zombie had ik ook al, maar de originele reeks blijft toch het beste, zelfs inclusief de matige delen III, V en 6 (vooral 6 vind ik onkijkbaar). Ik weet dat de beeld- en geluidskwaliteit niet van alle uitgaves geweldig is, maar die problemen heeft de US-box blijkbaar ook. En doordat de distributie van deze films in Europa bij zeer veel partijen ligt verwacht ik geen Regio B box meer.

Deel II was het duurst, iets van 12 pond bj Amazon UK, de rest allemaal tussen de 4 en 10 euro bij Amazon.de, amazon.fr en zavvi.nl mocht iemand ook geinteresseerd zijn. Ik ben klaar voor de herfst

Leuk dat sprokkelen van de diverse maar beste versies. Ik maak er ook een sport van. Doe dit vaak ook met individuele releases mbt extra's (bij backcatalog BD-uitgaves van Paramount zitten bijvoorbeeld helemaal geen extra's. Vandaar dat ik dan de dvd erbij koop). Ik heb dit het laatst gedaan voor de Underworld en Resident Evil reeks. Blijft leuk als je ze kan vinden en de collectie bij elkaar hebt.

Ja, was ook al lang geleden dat ik dit gedaan had, want ik koop niet zoveel meer op BD, heb alle dvd's de deur uit gedaan een tijd geleden en de meeste niet op BD vervangen. Maar voor de Halloweenreeks heb ik altijd een zwak gehad, dus die moest er toch een keer komen. Op Netflix staan ze ook niet.

Ik ben zelf niet van de extra's dus als de film erop staat in goede kwaliteit (tenminste beter dan de dvd) met een HD-geluidsspoor ben ik al snel tevreden.

Toch maar voor de regio B versies van de losse films gegaan.

Weet niet of het off-topic is, maar toch even ter info. De blurays druppelen binnen, wacht nog op II en IV.
Positief verrast over de beeld- en geluidskwaliteitkwaliteit tot nu toe.

Bij deel 6 - The Curse of Michael Myers schrok ik even, aangezien achter op de hoes bij audio alleen Frans stereo staat terwijl op bluray.com DTS-HD 5.1 Frans en Engels staat en bij de beschrijving op amazon.fr ook Engels en Frans als audio.



Maar op de disc zelf staan inderdaad gelukkig beide audiosporen Eng/Fr in DTS-HD 5.1 Wat wel jammer is, is dat je enkel de keuze hebt tussen Franse audio zonder ondertitels of Engelse audio met Franse ondertitels, die zijn dus niet uitschakelbaar (ik ken dat uit het dvd-tijdperk van de paar Franse titels die ik had maar wist niet dat dit in de bluraytijd ook nog wordt gedaan, niet eens over nagedacht bij het bestellen dat dit wel eens aan de hand zou kunnen zijn).

Er bestaat nog wel een regiovrije US-release maar die heeft DTS-HD 2.0 audio en is alleen nog tweedehands te koop met matige beeldkwaliteit. En een Oostenrijkse uitgave die denk ik het compleetst is, regiovrij, zonder OT, maar met Duitse en Engelse audio DTS-HD 5.1, maar die is OOP en kan ik online ook nergens te koop vinden. De TC van deze film heeft in de US-box van dit topic trouwens slechts Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.

De rest van de H6-bluray-releases is allemaal regio A locked voor zover ik zie. Dus dan maar de Franse OT negeren, 5.1 audio en goede beeldkwaliteit heeft toch de voorkeur. En de film is toch bagger

De overige Duitse en Franse releases uit bovenstaande lijstje hebben wel allemaal uitschakelbare OT. H20 vond ik er erg goed uitzien.
