Alfred Hitchcock op Blu-ray!

Ik zag ondertussen dat de op 16 mei uitgekomen blu-ray van To Catch a Thief geen extra's bevat. Zover ik dat tenminste op de achterkant van de hoes kon nagaan, correct me if i'm wrong. Zelfde geldt trouwens voor Chinatown. Ook al zo'n kale uitgave. Toch maar de amerikaanse uitgaves aanschaffen.

Hitchcock's The Lodger Heading to Blu-ray

Independent British distributors NetworkDVD have revealed that they are planning to release a Dual Format edition of Alfred Hitchcock's The Lodger (1927), starring Ivor Novello, Marie Ault, Arthur Chesney, and June. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is September 24th.

The release will feature a newly commissioned score by producer, composer and performer Nitin Sawhney, and will come with a bonus CD.

During a rash of gruesome murders by a serial killer known only as "The Avenger", a mysterious stranger arrives in London and rents a room with the Bunting family. Intriguing and reclusive, the Buntings' new guest soon earns the interest of their beautiful daughter. But when the lodger's strange habits and odd hours start to coincide with the Avenger's killings, the Buntings suspect they may have let a murderer into their home... and given him the key to destroying their lives!

Geweldige stille Hitchcock-film!

Ik voorzie veel kapotte cases desondanks ziet het er mooi uit, maar ik blijf vooralsnog sceptisch over de kwaliteit van de uitgaves. Ik wacht nog even af..

Zou het kunnen dat deze boxset ook verkrijgbaar zal zijn in andere Europese landen zoals Engeland bv.? Ik vraag dat omdat alles lijkt in het Engels te zijn. Dat zijn we normaal niet gewoon van Duitse uitgaven. Nu maar hopen dat er Nederlandse ondertitels aanwezig zullen zijn.
Ik ga niet te lang wachten om deze boxset te bestellen want soms zijn de Limited Edition snel uitverkocht. En dit ziet er zeer mooi uit.

EDIT: Ik heb hem zojuist besteld. Ik zie op blu-ray.com dat er ook een bokset met de 14 films gepland is in de VS. Wel zonder datum. Nu maar hopen dat het waar is want dan is de kans zeer groot dat ik de huidige bestelling cancel om de Amerikaanse versie te nemen om toch zeker te zijn dat alles in het Engels is.

Hela, 39 Steps zit er ook in, dat wist ik niet! Ging er automatisch van uit dat het exact dezelfde films zouden zijn als de rode DVD box. Toch maar goed dat ik de Criterion nog niet gekocht had

Ik geloof niet dat 39 steps en North by Northwest zoals het plaatje wel aangeeft in deze boxset zitten. De product omschrijving op amazon.de maakt geen melding van deze titels en ook zijn deze titels niet van universal maar van warner bros.

Geen idee waarom amazon.de dit plaatje bij het product zet, want deze kan niet kloppen. Ik verwacht dat dit plaatje van de US release zal zijn.

39 steps is niet van WB, maar misschien dat deze films er in de US wel inzitten en dat ze een deal hebben gemaakt net zoals met de Kubrick set met Spartacus(Universal) en Dr. Strangelove(Sony).

Nee 39 steps niet in van WB, maar North By northwest wel, maar dat weet je ook wel. Een behoort idd tot de mogelijkheden en zullen wel zien, 28 december is nog ver weg.

In the Fall, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will bring Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection to Blu-ray. This limited edition box set compiles fifteen titles from the legendary filmmaker's career, thirteen of which make their respective U.S. Blu-ray debut through this package.

Northwest is toch al eerder door Warner uitgebracht. Wat doet deze film dan in een Universal boxset? In dvd bevindt deze titel toch zich in een Warner Bros boxset.

De US versie is heel mooi, maar ik heb North by Northwest al, dus laat ik deze maar voorbijgaan.

De US-box ziet er inderdaad zeer fraai uit. Doodzonde dat Planet Axel failliet is, want deze krijg je nooit zonder toeslagen langs de douane.
