Laika, de animatiestudio waaruit het fantastische "Coraline" voortkwam, heeft een nieuwe duistere stopmotion-film in petto. ParaNorman is een komische thriller en speelt zich af in een klein dorpje dat wordt aangevallen door zombies. De enige die kan helpen is Norman, een onbegrepen jongen die met de doden kan praten. Om zijn dorp van een eeuwenoude vloek te redden, moet hij het opnemen tegen zombies, geesten, heksen, en het ergst van al: debiele volwassenen.
Director van dienst is Sam Fell, die eerder al 'Flushed Away' en 'The Tale of Depereaux' mede regisseerde. De stemmencast bestaat oa. uit (upcoming talent) Kody Smit-McPhee als Norman, Casy Affleck, Leslie Mann, John Goodman, Christopher Mintz-Plasse en Jeff Garlin. Componist Jon Brion (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Punch-Drunk Love, I Heart Huckabees, Magnolia, Synecdoche New York) zal de soundtrack verzorgen.

Net op tv gezien in HD (Video Detective) en het ziet er werkelijk schitterend uit. Ook de film zelf lijkt mij meer dan de moeite waard.

Promotiegewijs werd ook deze actie opgezet met prachtige resultaten, imo.
For the release of ParaNorman on August 17, 2012, Mondo and some of their most amazing artists have created a set of limited edition posters. Prachtig klein filmpje over de hoeveelheid werk die komt kijken bij het maken van een klein bureaulampje, vermoedelijk niet meer dan een detail in het decor.
