De nieuwe Total Recall word volgens mij ook een hele goede.

Als ik Total Recall zie, dan zie je een hele grote vooruitgang aan CGI en SFX..ik verwacht dit ook van Robocop..met een sterrencast bij Total Recall kan deze reboot nogal wat overmoedig overkomen..en dat het verhaal heel langzaam opgebouwt zal worden en nogal kan tegenvallen (alles moet opnieuw uitgelegd wordt/geintroduceerd aka Batman Begins)..dit is dus ook hoogstwaarschijnlijk het geval bij Robocop..wel in de sci-fi richting maar een totaal ander verhaal..maar ben alsnog wel benieuwd!

Volgens mij hebben de voorstanders van dit project de originele Robocop nog nooit gezien. Ik kan me dan ook niet voorstellen dat ze een betere film dan het origineel kunnen maken over Robocop. De scenes met Clarence Boddicker, "I'll buy that for a dollar", "dead or alive, you're coming with me' en het compleet aan gort schieten van Peter Weller's Alex Murphy karakter zijn epic.

Reboot's moeten ze gewoon mee stoppen, heeft 0,0 toegevoegde waarde. Misschien om een jonger publiek te vermaken, maar de generatie jaren 80/90 zit echt niet te wachten op een nieuwe versie van Robocop of Total Recall. Ik althans niet!

Maar, nu jij dat zegt bedenk ik mij ook ineens dat ik zo uit het hoofd geen 1 reboot kan bedenken die ik weergaloos goed vond (of beter dan het origineel)

We hebben die vreselijke A-Team en Miami Vice films ook nog gehad. Geen reboots weliswaar, maar wel een aanfluiting. Straks gaan ze A Clockwork Orange of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly nog rebooten daar in Dummywood.

Verhoeven: remake Total Recall neemt zichzelf te serieus

Regisseur Paul Verhoeven is niet te spreken over de remake van zijn film Total Recall. De Amerikaanse regisseur Len Wiseman (Die Hard 4.0) maakte een nieuwe versie van de sciencefictionklassieker uit 1990, die vandaag in Nederland in première gaat. 'Deze film neemt zichzelf ontzettend serieus', zegt Verhoeven tegen NOS. 'Er kan geen lachje vanaf'.



Ook vond de regisseur - die niet werd geraadpleegd voor de remake - dat er zoveel stunts en special effects waren, dat het het contact met de hoofdrolspelers in de weg stond. 'Ik voelde me buitengesloten'.

Het origineel, met Arnold Schwarzenegger en Sharon Stone, sleepte twee Oscar-nominaties in de wacht. De verveelde mijnwerker Douglas besluit bij het obscure bedrijfje Rekall valse herinneringen te implementeren over een leven als geheim agent. Probleem: Douglas wás al geheim agent, met een gewist geheugen (of niet) en overgelopen naar het verzet (of niet). Hierdoor loopt alles mis en lopen fantasie en werkelijkheid door elkaar. Het verhaal is geïnspireerd op het korte verhaal 'We Can Remember It For You Wholesale' van Philip K. Dick.

De remake, met onder andere Jessica Biel en Colin Farrell, trekt geen volle zalen in de VS. Hier ging Total Recall vorige week al in première. 'In het eerste weekend is er 26 miljoen dollar binnengekomen, net zoveel als bij mijn film in 1989. Dat had gezien de inflatie nu zo'n 70 miljoen moeten zijn', zegt Verhoeven. Critici noemen het te vroeg voor een remake van de klassieker.

In Hollywood regent het momenteel remakes. Verhoeven wijt dit aan 'ideeënarmoede'. 'Ze hebben geen smaak en daardoor hebben ze geen inzicht in wat het publiek naar de bioscoop drijft.'

Maar, nu jij dat zegt bedenk ik mij ook ineens dat ik zo uit het hoofd geen 1 reboot kan bedenken die ik weergaloos goed vond (of beter dan het origineel)

Padilha vind ik interessant. Heeft iig een visie, wat Wiseman niet heeft. Vraag me af hoe ze dit vorm gaan geven. Ben misschien één van de grootste Verhoeven-fans hier, maar dit geef ik een kans. Let wel dat Verhoeven heeft samengewerkt met de scriptschrijvers, dus ik ben benieuwd hoe de rol van Oldman zich verhoudt tot het originele verhaal.

• I’ll share this one detail. In the film, when Murphy is turned into Robocop 1.0, it’s described “a high-tech version of the ’80s suit.”
  
  Then they show a focus group scene where criminals laugh at the design. “He looks like a toy from the ’80s!”
  
  So they redesign him to look “meaner” as Robocop 2.0, who passes focus group approval.
  
  So they not only make sure to include the original design, they also point out it’s dated and stupid. *facepalm*
  
  Hold onto your sides for more hilarious “Robocop” details. They outsource his construction to China. #seriously
  
  And we meet the ED-209s in the field in Iran, where they’re used to subdue suicide bombers. #ineedallthedrinksnow
  
  Ahhh… now they just dropped Robocop 3.0 onto an Al Queda training camp to see what he does.

  Okay… the two “best” lines in the script. First up is at the unveiling ceremony for Robocop in Detroit, from a TV reporter covering it.
  
  “I think it’s safe to say that Alex Murphy is now part man, part machine, ALL COP!” Yes, I too remember the original poster, asshat.
  
  Second, after the traumatic first meeting with his father, Alex’s son retreats to the apartment of Lewis, Murphy’s male partner.
  
  The scene ends with the action line “David sits, catatonic, looks at the TV — MGM REMAKE TBD.”
  
  I’ll say this: once the script stops all the winky-winky crap and just starts telling a story, it’s not terrible. But it’s way too late.
  
  When this thing hits theaters, people are going to call up Len Wiseman’s “Total Recall” on the phone and apologize for being so mean.
  
  Dit klinkt allemaal niet enorm hoopgevend. Met namen als Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson en Abbie Cornish moet de remake van Paul Verhoevens sci-fi film vanaf 15 augustus 2013 in de bioscoop te zien zijn. Hugh Laurie Not Appearing in the New RoboCop Movie

It was just a few short months ago that it was reported that Hugh Laurie would be joining the RoboCop remake and taking on the villain role. Yesterday, Variety's Jeff Sneider tweeted this message for us all:

MGM RUMOR #1: While he was never officially confirmed, sources telling Variety that HUGH LAURIE has ended talks to play villain in ROBOCOP.

HUGH LAURIE definitely out of ROBOCOP reboot, not that he was ever "in."

Looks like the folks at the RoboCop camp are going to have to scramble to get a new villain as shooting is expected to start in September.

In the film, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Joel Kinnaman stars in the Jose Padilha film. Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Jackie Earle Haley, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle and Michael Kenneth Williams co-star in the August 9, 2013 release.

Production is set to begin on Saturday, September 15 in Toronto on Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures' and Columbia Pictures' RoboCop, directed by Jose Padilha. The film stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

The screenplay is by Josh Zetumer and Nick Schenk, based on the 1987 motion picture written by Edward Neumeier & Michael Miner. The film is produced by Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, with Bill Carraro serving as executive producer. The film will be released in the US on August 9, 2013.

Er zijn ook al foto's opgedoken. Om de mensen met een extreme spoiler-allergie tegemoet te komen, hou ik het nog even op een link in plaats van de foto's hier te plaatsen.

Het is niet helemaal duidelijk wat we hier zien. Het kan een vroege versie zijn (het script vermeldt in ieder geval verschillende versies), het kan de definitieve versie zijn die in post-productie nog wordt nabewerkt, het kan de definitieve versie zijn zoals hij in de film gaat uitzien.

Dit is wat nieuws.

Lijkt mij ook gaaf, iets nieuws. Maar het is nog totaal onzeker of dit het definitieve pak is of bijvoorbeeld een stuntpak en dan zelfs nog ook zonder post productie CGI (zoals ook in het artikel staat). Dus afkraken of bejubelen vind ik beiden nog wat voorbarig. Maar het is een leuke eerste sneak peek...
