    Ik heb gisteren Frenzy nog gezien. Wat 'n knappe film! Maar mijn favorieten zijn toch z'n films die hij in de jaren 50 heeft gemaakt. Vooral dan Vertigo...

    Ben nu een biografie over de beste man aan het lezen (aangezien ik mijn scriptie over hem ga schrijven) en jaar voor jaar, film voor film, wordt uitgelegd hoe Hitchcock in het wereldje van de film rolde. Ben nu bij The Skin Game uit 1931.

    Ik heb nog niet alles van hem gezien, en vind ze ook niet allemaal even goed bijv. Marnie en The Birds.
    Daarentegen horen films als Rear Window, North by NorthWest, Dial M for Murder, Lifeboat en Strangers on a Train absoluut bij mijn favorieten.

    Ik denk dat Hitch de meest ge-imiteerde regisseur is. In de recente 1408 naar de novelle van Stephen King zag ik ook weer trekjes terug.

    North by Northwest was mijn allereerste bioscoopfilm in 1960. "De Man Die Verdwijnen Moest" was de Nederlandse titel. Deze film heb ik daarna zeker nog 10 keer gezien en blijft me boeien.

    Knappe staaltjes filmkunst met beperkte middelen.

    In een van die eerdere Hitchcock-topics heb ik iets geplaatst, waarvan er vreemd genoeg niemand op gereageerd heeft.

    Daarom doe ik bij deze nog een poging: Het gaat om een wijncommercial dat tegelijkertijd een prachtige hommage is aan de filmmeester, geregisseerd door de andere filmmeester Martin Scorsese. Het is gebaseerd op een film die Hitch ooit had willen maken, maar dat ging om een of andere reden niet door. Het project zou "The Key to Reserva" heten en het script bestaat louter uit drieënhalve pagina's dat nog incompleet is ook. Het resultaat is schitterend en Scorsese legt gelijk uit hoe hij dit filmpje in beeld heeft gebracht.

    Cool filmpje inderdaad, mooi om te zien dat ook nu nog de spirit van Hitchcock voort blijft bestaan in de wereld van de huidige grote filmmakers.

    Schandalig dat er van de Hitchcock klassieker Suspicion (met Cary Grant) nog geen Nederlandse dvd release is, of in ieder geval een release met NL-subs. :sad:

    Er zijn er best wel meer waar ik graag een R2NL release van zou hebben. De belangrijkste Hitchcock-films heb ik ondertussen wel (op North By Northwest na), maar ook tussen zijn minder bekende films zitten blijkbaar nog wel wat pareltjes. Ik zou liefst gewoon zijn hele filmografie hebben eigenlijk

    Weet iemand of "The BIrds" al in Nederland is gereleased in het juiste beeldformaat 1.85:1. Met deze film zitten ze al vanaf het VHS tijdperk te klooien.

    Same here, er zijn geen overeenkomsten met de masterpiece collection, dus dit is een mooie kans om een aantal Hitchcocks in huis te halen die ik nog niet heb.

    Het is natuurlijk persoonlijk, maar ik zet tegenwoordig altijd de Engelse ondertiteling aan, ipv de nederlandse. Ik ben het toch gewend om iets te lezen, maar heb op deze manier geen last van verkeerde vertalingen.
