http://newboards.kongisking.net/perl...panded;#151113[/quote]I just got back from Vegas convention where they spent 2 days discussing Digital Cinema today and down the road. Right now there are about 400 digital projectors in the USA and by the end of the year around 1600. So its definitely on the rise. The other thing good about dlp is that you can easily project 3d.According to James Cameron (who spoke), he & Robert Zemeckis are going to shoot all there movies in 3D. Cameron feels that it puts you more into the movie & story. You can also take a 2D movie like Star Wars and dimensionalize it. But it's a long process and very subjective in regards to how much of an effect you want, on a shot by shot basis. But come May 2007 Star Wars3D will be out. They showed clips including the first 5 minutes of the movie. Amazing to watch and no eye strain. It is going to have tremendous repeat business because you can't do 3d except in a movie theater. All six star wars movies are getting dimensionalized.
Cameron also said that PJ is "seriously considering" dimensionalizing LOTR and Kong. But its not a real-time process so a 3hr movie would take a while to do.
Cameron plans to do T2 and Titanic.
