Als het bericht waar is wat ik in de krant vanochtend las dan is dat wel ontzettend tof zeg!

Er schijnt een nieuwe X-files film te komen, release: 2006. Met Gilian Anderson én David Duchovny. Het stond in de Telegraaf dus kwa waarheidsgehalte zou ik het niet weten maar mijn X-fileshart ging wel ff sneller kloppen :P

No Aliens for X-Files 2
The sequel is still on.

May 19, 2006 - When we last heard an update on X-Files 2, Rob Bowman — who directed Fight the Future and hopes to helm the sequel — said the project was waiting on a script from Chris Carter, creator of the X-Files and Millennium television series. Bowman also suggested that the new film would be a stand-alone story, rather than continuing the conspiracy theme of the show's later seasons and X-Files: Fight the Future.

We're still waiting on that script, but it sounds like someone's going to get going on it soon. According to Sci Fi Wire, Frank Spotnitz has taken on the job of producing a screenplay for the X-Files sequel. Spotnitz was a producer on the TV show and also wrote several of its episodes. He's been connected to the X-Files sequel in previous reports as well.

Though no script exists yet, Spotnitz said that an idea for the movie has been fleshed out already. And confirming what Bowman said earlier, it will not tie into the alien conspiracy storyline, conforming instead to the show's earlier one-story-per-episode format of the show.

"No, we're not going into the mythology [again]. One of the things that was exciting about doing it is to not make it a mythology story, and it's like one of the stand-alone episodes. It's a bit scary. Of course, we will catch up with the characters and what is going on in their lives, but it's not about the alien conspiracy."

Although both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have long professed their willingness to return to X-Files, other problems continue to hold up production. In addition to having no screenplay, legal wrangling between Fox and Carter have kept the project stalled. Spotnitz tried to cast the issue in an optimistic light:

"David, Gillian and I, and even Chris Carter, all have deals in place, and once the legal issues are over with, we will go on with it. I'm hoping it will get resolved soon."

Anders ik wel 8). Lijkt me ook erg gaaf dat het een stand-alone verhaal wordt, ik had het wel een beetje gehad met die mythology en er zitten een groot aantal ijzersterke stand-alone afleveringen in die seizoenen.

Ik wist niet meer dat deze film uitkwam in de bios maar het is alleen zeker dat de film dit jaar uitkomt of word het toch volgend jaar??

Nou als ze nog met het script bezig zijn en dus nog helemaal niks vastligt reken maar op volgend jaar of zelfs 2008 als hij al uberhaupt al verschijnt.

Zou ook geen problemen hebben als Doggett en Reyes ook van de partij zijn. Toen Mulder uit de serie was en Scully het met Doggett en Reyes moest doen, mistte ik Mulder eigenlijk niet eens.

Worden beter niet opnieuw van stal gehaald (ik weet dat sommigen dood zijn, maar in het verleden was dat nooit een bezwaar):

- The Lone Gunmen (alhoewel ik die gasten geweldig vind)
- Krycek
- Geen supersoldiers meer, dank U. Alhoewel ik Lucy Lawless puur om persoonlijke reden ook niet dadelijk uit de cast zou weigeren.

Ach, just wishful thinking...

Wishful thinking, gewoon een derde deel maken. Dit tweede deel gewoon een standalone verhaal, en de derde film dan weer met de X-Files mythologie en de aliens die dan komen.

Maar ik vind alles best. The X-Files is en blijft geweldig.

Ik moet eerlijk bekennen dat ik dankzij de prachtige programmaties van Kanaal 2 (B) de serie nog steeds niet volledig heb gezien, laat staan dat ik ze ooit in de juiste volgorde heb kunnen meepikken. Zodoende was ik bij de uitzendingen toen Mulder verdween maar half mee, ik hoop ze nog steeds volledig te kunnen checken. Maar het is wat prijzig. De eerste film vond ik, hoewel geen bioscoop-hoogtepunt, best wel de juiste sfeer hebben en verdomd entertainend. Scully en Mulder op het grote scherm, hoe kan het ook anders.

Mulder geniet ook mijn voorkeur natuurlijk, maar Doggett en Reyes waren gewoon erg goed tijdens zijn afwezigheid. Hoop dat deze twee in deze film ook gewoon weer aanwezig zijn.

Ik ben wel blij dat het een gewone "stand-alone" wordt...die afleveringen vond ik in de reeks eigenlijk ook het leukst

Denk maar aan afleveningen zoals Darkness Falls of Detour....Mulder en Scully alleen in het bos tegen de 'monsters'...

Mulders vertrek was een gemis, maar ik ben vooral onder de indruk geraakt van het acteertalent van Annabeth Gish (Reyes).

UPDATE #2 SEE BELOW! The idea for a second X-Files film has been in the works for a long time. The IESB attended the TV Set press day today and spoke with David Duchovny about just that!


Back in 2005 Duchovny told IGN, "According to USA Today, Duchovny told reporters at the recent 10th Annual Critics' Choice Awards that he expected to shoot X-Files 2 some time this year or in early 2006. Elaborating on the project, the actor said it would not involve the alien conspiracy storyline that helped make the television series so popular. Instead, he stated, it would be a standalone supernatural horror film."
Well we know it obviously didn't happen, but things never happen quickly in Hollywood.
Duchovny spoke about it briefly to the IESB today while promoting TV Set.
Duchovny says X-Files fans will have their second film after all! He revealed to the IESB that they were in final negotiations for the second X-Files film and should wrap this week. Plans are to start shooting in '08 or sooner!
If negotiations get nailed down this week as planned, it looks like he will once again fill the shoes of our favorite Special Agent, Fox Mulder.

UPDATE! We followed up with David Duchovny after our brief discussion ealier in the day regarding X-Files 2, we wanted to get a bit more info on the script and other cast. Here is a transcript of what he said below --
Q: Is the storyline you talked about last year still the same? It won’t involve aliens or a science fiction element and have more of a horror element?
David Duchovny: Not a horror film when compared to today’s standards like Saw and Hostel but more of a supernatural thriller.
Q: Who is all returning for the film?
DD: The story will revolve around Gillian’s character, Dana Scully, and my character, Fox Mulder.
Q: Are they going to address the time issue, the space between each film? Are they still in the FBI?
DD: There is no script completed, they are still developing the entire story.


UPDATE #2! For those of you who wrote in and asked, we wanted to get the rest of the X-Files tidbits up about the second film including information about Robert Patrick, here are some further quotes from David Duchovny --
Q: Could you give us an update on the X-Files movie?
DD: We'll do another movie or two, we'll continue to do movies if the next one does well.
Q: Is there a script already written?
DD: There is a board, as we say, a story.
Q: Do you think Robert Patrick will be back?
DD: No, no, it's just going to be the core [characters].
