Fantastic Four director speaks:
'After months of uncertainty since Peyton Reed left The Fantastic Four, the film once again has a director. Tim Story, director of Barbershop and the upcoming American version of French hit Taxi, is to take the reins of Marvel’s superhero foursome.

"What attracted me was that they are a family," said Story. "They might want to wring each others necks. They might storm out and disappear for three days, but you also know they'll be back. They don't always get along."

For those unfamiliar with the comics, the Fantastic Four are Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic), his best friend Ben Grimm (The Thing), wife Sue Richards (The Invisible Woman) and her brother Johnny Storm (The Human Torch). They were caught up in a storm of “cosmic rays” while on a spaceflight in Reed’s experimental shuttle, and emerged with super-powers. Now Reed can turn into elastic, Grimm is a man apparently made of boulders, Sue can make herself invisible and Johnny Storm can light up like, well, a torch, and fly. The four do more adventuring and exploring than planet-saving, but have some fabulous technology and swanky offices at the Baxter Building in New York.

The other advantage that the Fantastic Four have is that they don’t have any secret identities, so there’s no moping about worrying that someone might have noticed that, in a pair of tights and without their glasses, they’d be dead ringers for those guys who just saved the world.

The director is currently scouting locations in Vancouver for the film, and casting is underway. Producers have confirmed that Michael Chiklis of TV’s The Shield is in talks to star as Ben Grimm, and there are rumours that Tim Robbins might play baddie Dr Doom. Precies. ze hadden t masker uit de comic moeten gebruiken. dan zie je zn mond tenminste bewegen.

'Four' Heads Towards Vancouver

April 26, 2004 —

From Hollywood North Report:

'As reported by the ASB and confirmed by various HNR sources around town Fantastic Four is looking like it will shoot in Vancouver and some additional location photography done in an East Coast city. It was dicey for a while and we're told that Montreal and Toronto were under serious contention for the full shoot. Still no word on what studio in Vancouver will be used.

We also got an interesting email over the weekend from 'CC' who said that reps from IATSE and ACFC were told that the film would not film in town with the reason being "that they need something as big as NY's Brooklin Bridge to make the final showdown between the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom. A more likely scenario for them is to move the interior soundstage work to Toronto, while some of the essential exterior shoots will remain in NY. But majority of the work will be in the East Coast."

Sounds very interesting but goes contrary to what weve been hearing from our sources in regards to the Vancouver factor and usually organizations like IATSE and ACFC are the last to know what actually is going on. Weve been hearing that the main reason some location work would need to done elsewhere like Toronto or Montreal or even NYC is because a major location was lacking in Vancouver something that only an East Coast City has...so maybe its the Bridge or maybe its some other sort of older looking/cobblestone district that fits better out East.either way well soon find out with the official announcement expected to come this week or next.'

Verder was het wel een toffe film om te zien, alleen net iets te donker waardoor ik te vaak de kleuren instellingen moest veranderen om het goed te kunnen zien

Jessica Alba Confirmed for Fantastic Four

Jessica Alba has been cast as the Susan Storm (aka Invisible Girl) for 20th Century Fox's upcoming Marvel Comics adaptation Fantastic Four, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Alba, who also stars in the upcoming Sin City and Into the Blue, is said to have beat out stiff competition for the role that included Rachel McAdams and Elizabeth Banks.

She joins cast members Michael Chiklis (Benjamin Grimm/The Thing), Ioan Gruffudd (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic), and Chris Evans (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch). The four develop superpowers when their spaceship is exposed to cosmic radiation.

Tim Story is set to direct from a script by Simon Kinberg.

Een metalen masker past meer bij dr. Doom en laat de Green Goblin maar een stoffen masker ophouden.

Jessica Alba als Susan Storm ? Moet ze dan niet haar haren blond verven ? Dat zou ik wel jammer vinden, want met donker haar zag ze er goed uit in "Dark angel" . En als ze The invisible woman speelt, krijgen we haar zeker niet vaak in beeld te zien. Kunnen ze haar niet beter The invincible woman noemen, dan kunnen ze meteen die drie andere helden weglaten en de film The Fantastic One noemen.

Anyway, ik hoop niet dat het een suffe film wordt, want als comic was het alleen interessant zodra ze tegen Galactus moesten vechten. De rest van de tijd waren ze de hoeksteen van de samenleving.

Jessica Alba, 23, star of TV's Dark Angel, is Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman, who has a romance with Reed.

Welshman Ioan Gruffudd, 30, goes from Lancelot in King Arthur to scientist Reed Richards, whose Mr. Fantastic has the ability to stretch.

Chris Evans, 23, currently seen in Cellular, is Sue's bro Johnny, a cocky pilot who turns up the heat as the Human Torch.

The most recognizable face is also the most covered. Veteran actor Michael Chiklis, 41, of TV's The Shield, will grumble his way through the role of Ben Grimm, aka the Thing, a boulder-bodied mound of power whose battle cry is "It's clobberin' time!"

Ik weet eigenlijk zo net nog niet of doom wel te doen in op film. Green Goblin vond ik toch aardig, maar met een plastic masker (inderdaad, het was geen stof) was ie ook goed geweest.

Hmm, ik vind juist dat Thing als enige van de 4 een beetje goed oogt. De rest vind ik echt slecht gecast. Ze lijken in de verste verte niet op de personages uit de comic. Vooral Reed Richards, 30 is toch veel te jong voor iemand met grijze slapen!

Oei Fantastic Four ziet er tot nu toe niet al te fantastisch uit, de regisseur heeft eerder alleen maar Barbershop en de nog uit te komen remake van Taxi gemaakt. Maar ik laat me verrassen.......kan me nog herinneren toen de eerste foto's van de X-Men online verschenen ALLEEN maar negatieve reacties. Let's hope.......

OMG..niet Jessica Alba he...krijgt deze film straks ook al een hoog dure-serie gehalte. Ze zouden actrices eens niet op uiterlijk en hot-gehalte moeten kiezen..tjee...ik skip deze film dus al.

En voor de Ben rol, hadden ze daar niet beter voor Ron Perlman kunnen kiezen. Dat hij een prima rockhard-character kan neerzetten, hebben we toch wel mogen zien in Hellboy. Combineer dat met z'n sassy humor en je hebt beet.

En ach, zo kun je blijven doorgaan. Ik heb ook geen idee van het beschikbare budget.

vindt dit toch een goeie cast hoor en michael chiklis speelt in de serie the shield ook een corrupt en spijkerharde politieagent

ben best wel benieuwd .. ookal ben ik er nog niet over uit of ik denk dat het een flop wordt of toch best wel goed. Het niveau van Spidey en zeker X-Men zal hij niet halen..
